Jessica Simpson splurges 2m dollars on baby birth security

Washington, Mar 29 : Jessica Simpson, who is due to give birth to her child next month, has reportedly splashed out 2 million dollars on security.

The 31-year-old star and her NFL player beau Eric Johnson are due to welcome their first child - a girl they are said to be planning to call Maxwell - into the world in the coming weeks and are planning to spare no expense to keep the little one safe.

In addition to the 500,000 dollars they have spent booking out an entire wing of the hospital so that Simpson can give birth in private, the pair are also said to be hiring 30 armed guards to protect the baby around the clock.

"She's turning the maternity ward into Fort Knox. If her friends and family want to visit her, they'll have to make it through numerous checkpoints!" Contactmusic quoted a source as telling In Touch Weekly magazine.

"She's terrified of kidnapping. Her head of security just held a pre-birth meeting for her family to brief them on the rules!" the source said.

According to reports earlier this month, the couple had chosen the "non-traditional" name of Maxwell for their daughter, but she will be given a more informal nickname.

"They are going to call her Maxwell. She'll be Maxi for short," a source added.

Maxwell is Johnson's middle name and also the maiden name of Simpson's grandmother. (ANI)
