John Mayer Made Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson Comments To Not Seem 'Boring'

John Mayer has admitted that he was talking "garbage" when he made comments about his former girlfriends Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson.

The singer was blasted in 2010 after he gave several explicit interviews about his relationships with the stars, describing his heartbreak after splitting with the Friends actress as well as suggesting that Jessica Simpson was like "sexual napalm".

Mayer is hoping to resuscitate his musical career after taking a break from the limelight for a few years, and now has admitted that he was trying not to seem "boring".

In an interview with NPR Music, he said that he "wasn't prepared to be honest".

"I had nothing to say," he explained. "I was going through a time in my life where I didn't really want to share what was going on, but I didn't want to be boring."

The musician has been forced to realise that you can't please everyone or change people's opinion of you all of the time, and he's begun to accept that.

"You will eventually learn that you cannot correct your way out of everything. I was thinking, 'If they don't like me, there must be something they are missing'," he said.

Mayer recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he told the host that he was sorry for saying that his "d**k is like a white supremacist".

"It was a very strange time and it sort of rocketed me into adulthood," he said. "It was a violent crash into being an adult."
