Jessica Simpson father Joe Simpson gets probation sentence for DUI

Joe Simpson has been sentenced to three years' probation after a recent DUI arrest.

The father of Jessica Simpson was arrested in August when he was found to be driving after allegedly consuming several glasses of wine earlier in the night.

People reports that in a court hearing held on Tuesday (November 13), Simpson entered a plea to one misdemeanor count, with a second being dismissed by a Los Angeles judge.

Simpson is currently in the process of separating from wife Tina Simpson, who filed for divorce in October.

According to court papers, the 52-year-old wife and mother of Jessica and Ashlee Simpson reported "discord or conflict of personalities".

Some reports suggest that the catalyst for the divorce might have been Joe Simpson allegedly coming out as gay to his family.
