Jessica Simpson's dad temporarily banned from booze

Jessica Simpson's manager father has been ordered to stay away from alcohol until his drink-driving case returns to court in September.

Joe Simpson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) on 4 August after he was pulled over by police in Sherman Oaks, California.

The former minister was charged with two misdemeanour counts of DUI and he appeared in court on Thursday for an arraignment hearing, reports TMZ.com.

The judge agreed to continue the case next month, warning Simpson to steer clear of booze until his next court date, which has yet to be determined.
