Jessica Simpson's dad charged with DUI

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Singer Jessica Simpson's father, Joe, has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said.

Simpson, 54, was arrested Aug. 4 at a DUI checkpoint in Sherman Oaks, Calif., after he allegedly registered .12 on a breathalyzer test.

TMZ said Simpson faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail if convicted and could be placed on probation for 36 months.

He is due back in court later this month, the celebrity news Web site said.
