Why Were Mad Jessica Simpson Wont Address Baby Rumors

Every 15 seconds a new conspiracy theory pops up onto the Internet about Beyonce's famous baby bump: The bump is fake. She has a surrogate. She's trying to revive a sagging career. It's amazing that the mere presence of an embryo can spark this kind of speculation. But in Hollywood this behavior has become common. So is it really that strange that singer Jessica Simpson has yet to confirm (or dispel) rumors about her expanding belly? The question we should be asking ourselves is why we're so obsessive about the fact that she's keeping mum (at least for now.)

We don't like being "tricked."

There's something innately rude about having the wool pulled over one's eyes. As we watch Jessica prance around town donning baggy ensemble after another, we're literally dying to see what's underneath her fancy smocks. She's a celebrity after all. So in our minds we believe that we're entitled to every detail of her Hollywood existence. Is her belly full of tiny human---or merely full of fancy lunches? Inquiring minds need to know.

And speaking of fancy lunches

That brings us to the real reason that we're ticked Jessica won't just spill the beans. After years of teasing the poor girl about her fluctuating weight, we're mad that we can't legitimately hassle her for getting a little round in the middle. After all, you're not supposed to tease pregnant ladies for getting fat. That's just rude. So why won't Jessica go ahead and giv! e us the OK, so that we can commence our judgmental tirades? (The nerve of her, right?)

Jessica's no fool.

We realize that Jessica is no fool. She's waiting until she's good and darned ready to reveal whether she and fiance, Eric Johnson are expecting. The tabloids (which have pretty much confirmed her pregnancy) also reveal that the singer/reality star may be keeping quiet for a variety of reasons. Furthermore, she and her NFL sweetie have yet to iron out wedding plans.

Other reasons for staying quiet

We took Mariah Carey's pregnancy silence personally too. How dare these divas keep the world in the dark about what's happening in their wombs. But we've failed to consider other, more personal reasons why Jessica's holding out on us. What if she has health concerns? What if her Christian faith has made pre-marital pregnancy a touchy family subject? Even still, what if she and Eric Johnson are experiencing a few wrinkles in their romance? These are all issues that many women wouldn't be too keen on addressing with millions of strangers. Jessica Simpson isn't the first woman to keep quiet about being with child. And she won't be the last. But until those tabloid headlines are denied (or she actually gives birth), we'll be slaves to the guessing game.
