Jessica Simpson let it slip she is expecting a boy this week during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, but did she do it by accident or on purpose?

The revelation comes soon after Us Weekly announced the sex of the child and her plans to call the baby Ace, based on information from a Simpson insider.

Speaking to Kimmel to promote the news season of Fashion Star, the star happened to let news of the gender of her child out when making a joke about weiners making her sick.

She said: "Oh my gosh it's a total difference pregnancy. I just feel awful, I've been vomiting," the star admitted, before revealing: "I've been vomiting and the crazy thing is I never knew that a wiener could actually make me nauseous."

While it doesn't appear Kimmel or the audience see this as a sign she's expecting a boy, Jess does and then repeats the fact. Jess went on, while covering her mouth and laughing: "Oh, shoot, I guess I just told the world that I'm having a boy!"

While talk show host Kimmel played catch, only cottoning on to the revelation moments afterwards, the 32-year-old continued: "I kind of just outed that I'm havin! g a boy right? I can't believe I did that, that was not planned."

To which the audience exploded with laughter and clapping. So did Jess just want to take the opportunity to trump the tabloid or did she genuinely make an error?

EntertainmentWise's body language expert Judi James took a look at the footage of Jess making the slip up, and isn't convinced it's an accident.

I'm more than tempted to say this was a deliberate 'slip' especially when you compare it to the reactions of Kate Middleton earlier in the week, she said. Jessica's line sounds like apre-scripted jokerather than an ad-lib and she delivers it full voice, with her pace and tone staying strong right to the end of the sentence.

Looking at how she sits during the slip up, Judi claims she doesn't look like someone who's let a huge secret out on national TV.

She said: Her body language stays open and confident and when the host fails to give the reaction she expects, thinking she was just being a bit cheeky, she makes sure he gets it by yelling about the world will know now.

There are no denial gestures or change of speech or body language to suggest surprise or embarrassment at having revealed a secret.

She went on: When someone genuinely lets something slip there will often be an attempt to hide after the event but Jessica lookshappy to emphasise her news with the phrase about'the world' knowing suggesting she's happy to announce it to the widest audience.

So was Jess just too excited to keep the news in? Insiders reportedly told RadarOnline the whole skit had been rehearsed in an effort to gain coverage for the new series of Fashion Star.

Jessicas slip-up was a rehearsed line, something she waited to do until the time was right for her, a source close to the Simpson family told the site.

She knew that she would be taping interviews to promote Fashion Star, so the timing couldnt be more perfect.
