(Getty Images)more pics Eric Johnson (Getty Images) Former NFL tight end Eric Johnson was once known for his pass catching abilities on the turf, but since his retirement, he's recognized more as Jessica Simpson's fianc and baby daddy.

Johnson was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2001 NFL Draft. When healthy, he was a key contributor to the 49ers passing game. However, he was plagued by health issues, missing all of 2003 with an injury and 2005 with separated injuries. In 2004, he led the 49ers in receiving with 82 catches for 825 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson left the NFL for good after he was released by the Saints in 2008.

He and Jessica Simspon began dating in 2010 while Johnson was going through a divorce from his first wife Keri. One month after the divorce was finalized, Simpson announced she was engaged to Eric. One year later, Simpson revealed that she was pregnant with her first child with Eric as the father.
